Flavors of Portugal And Spain River Cruise Amawaterways

This spring and Summer I am going to take you on a tour of different countries in Europe. This tour will start with AMAwaterways River Cruise to the Douro River with 3 night pre in Lisbon and 3 post night in Madrid Spain. I chose this tour because these countries were on my bucket list but I did not expect the feeling I had of walking into history. We visited the most famous monuments in Lisbon including the Jeronimos Monastery, The Belem tower where they make the best pastries called the Pastéis de Belém the Discoveries monument of the Estuary of the Tagus River where you relive the history of the Portuguese discoveries into new countries like India and Africa. If you haven’t been to Lisbon before this a city definitely work seeing.

When you go Lisbon, don’t miss this day trip to Sintra visiting the Pena Palace where of the Portuguese family lived including the last King of Portugal. Wander into the rooms where royal family members lived and relive the history. When you are done with Pena Palace, you have to visit Sintra for lunch and a tasting their famous cherry liqueur in chocolate cups. Yes that’s one of their specialities!!
